Year 6 revised numbers 1-100!, focusing on numbers 70 to 100.they then learnt how to say and write the year in French. After that they completed a matching activity and read the year in numbers, writing them in digits.

Lo: to use numbers from 70 to 100

Year 6 revised numbers 1 – 20. They found out that numbers 70 to 100 are made up of numbers up to 20. They sang a number song and used a help mat to order numbers.

Year 6 practised the new town vocabulary and then used the above sentence structures to write sentences using the pictures provided to help them.

Lo: to find out about how the French celebrate Easter

Year 6 found out about how the French celebrate Easter. They then used a bilingual dictionary to help them match the words with Easter pictures.

Lo: to use Il y a with new town vocabulary

Year 6 learnt some new vocabulary related to the town and the places found in the town.They used Il y a to write and say sentences.

Lo: to revise places we find in a town.

Yard 6 started a new topic, Le passé et Le present, Then and Now. They revised the vocabulary from year 5 from the En route pour ecole unit. They played a memory game, which one is missing and then filled in the missing letters from the revised vocabulary.

Lo: to order an ice cream in French

Year 6 sang their song and practised their Monter au café vocabulary. They then practised using Je voudrais and looked a a conversation between a child and an ice- cream seller. They then practised their conversation with their partner.

Lo: to listen carefully to a text and to identify known words

Year 6 sang their song and played language detective. They listened carefully to a short poem and wrote down some items that they could identify. They then were given the full poem and high lighted all the words that they knew, using their menu to help them.

Lo: to use the past tense of manger and boire

Year 6 continued with using the past tense of manger and boire but this time they answered the question: What did he or she eat yesterday? and What did he or she drink yesterday? They looked at their menus and chose items, practising asking and answering their partner questions. They then wrote down their questions and answers, practising she ate …and she drank …..

Year 6 revised the present tense of manger and boire. They were then introduced to the past tense of these verbs. They then used an example of each to practise asking and answering, the question: What did you eat yesterday? And What did you drink yesterday. They looked at their menus and chose items. They then wrote down their questions and answers.
